What is Passion? What is Purpose? And, How Do We Blend the Two?
Passion is a strong feeling of enthusiasm or excitement for something or about doing something
Purpose is the reason why something is done or used; the aim or intention of something; the feeling of being determined to do or achieve something.
I believe to live happily, you need to have passion (a strong feeling of enthusiasm about doing something) in order to live out your purpose (feeling of being determined to achieve that something).
So, we need to know what excites you so much that keeps you up at night and forces you to jump out of bed each morning: your passion.
And, we need to figure out what makes you determined to achieve something great, and what are the fundamental reasons you strive to do great things over and over again: your purpose.
Passion is the energy or motivation that gets you going, while Purpose is was sustains your energy, interests and efforts to keep you going until you reach your anticipated goal and/or sustain a steady, happy journey.
Briefly, Passion is the energy that gets you going, but Purpose is the energy that sustains you to the end.
Many times, you hear: Live your Passion, or Do what you’re Passionate about…but, the problem is, many times people’s passion dies down when obstacles, roadblocks, weaknesses or naysayers get in their way.
It’s when Passion is fueled by one’s Purpose that causes the happy, successful ones to lead. These are the people who choose to be blinded by negativity, and stay focused on the end prize and/or positive, educational, and empowering journey.
So, this is briefly what this exercise will be about. It may take one exercise for some people, and may take months for others. Since there’s at least four of us (my 3 girls and I) determined to find our passions and live our purposes, I know we each cannot achieve our answers at the same time…so this journey will continue. For how long, I’m not sure, but for sure it will not stop today. Will you join us?
My girls and I are really excited about entering this journey with open-minds and open-hearts. We’re up for the challenge, are you?
